Welcome

Following Milan, the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics is very pleased to host the next joint congress of the European Economic Association and the Econometric Society European meeting (EEA-ESEM) in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) from 23 - 27 August, 2009.

In 1990, Barcelona hosted the World Congress of the Econometric Society. Since then, our scientific community has been growing around a cluster of four groups: the Department of Economics and Business of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF); the Unit of Economic Analysis of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB); the Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC); and the Center for Research in International Economics (CREI).

Those groups constituted in summer 2006 the Barcelona GSE, the institution of scientific cooperation that now welcomes you to the thriving, Mediterranean city of Barcelona. The conference will be held at the two GSE campuses: Bellaterra and Ciutadella, and a fast transport system will provide convenient access to both campuses.

The 2009 EEA-ESEM joint meeting will feature the work and findings of the leading scholars in economics, econometrics and related fields, and will provide an excellent opportunity to present your own research results, additionally, several social events will be offered and a formal dinner will be held at the medieval Casa Llotja de Mar.

We look forward to meeting you in Barcelona!
